During my senior year of college, the seminar project I had to work on is dedicated to design a basic website tailored for small communities in Nebraska, particularly those with populations under 1,200. The planned website would provide updates on local news, important government information, forums for community interaction, and directories identifying local businesses and services. I have chosen these elements to strengthen the sense of community and economically boost these small towns. The primary goal is to provide these communities with the digital tools they need to thrive, increasing connectivity among residents and improving their overall quality of life.
Well, after a few months of researching and developing the website, it is officially available for people to access. I chose to use WordPress to build my town website and selected a theme while also customized to my liking. The site contains 5 main pages: Home, Government, Resident, Business, and News. I also created a number of other pages that could be useful and implemented many plugins, chosen for their specific capabilities to meet the needs of the site.
